About us

What

Salim and Salimah, Safe and Sound is a road safety awareness campaign designed and developed by Sustainability (Al Mustadaama) llc from the Sultanate of Oman. The campaign is dedicated to:-

• raising awareness among parents of the danger of death or severe injury to their babies and children if carried unrestrained in vehicles;

• encouraging all drivers to protect children by buckling them in car safety seats appropriate to their height and weight;

• alerting all road users to the high risk behaviours that daily cause death and injury on our road and strategies to avoid them.

This creative multi-media campaign in Arabic and English has achieved international recognition as the first of its kind in the Arab world focused on child passenger safety. Read more

Why

The initiative takes place against an inexorable rise in the toll of death and injury on Oman’s roads in recent years, negligible use of child restraints and seatbelts and lack of road safety educational resources tailored to the local environment.

Who

Sustainability (Al Mustadaama) llc is an independent Omani social enterprise set up to conduct research and develop programs in the critical areas of road safety, environmental and heritage protection and law reform.
We are passionate about creating demand for best practice in all areas and sharing knowledge to engage and empower young Omanis in a shared vision of the sustainable development and long-term prosperity of the nation.

Sustainability (Al Mustadaama) llc is a member of the World Health Organisation’s network of global NGOs advocating for road safety, the Make Roads Safe campaign, the Road Traffic Injuries Research Network, the European Road Safety Charter and the Middle East Partnership Initiative.
